The Role:
The Head of Editorial Content (HEC) is responsible for leading Vogue Arabia, shaping the values, sensibility and aesthetic of the brand in the market.
As the territory’s most senior editorial figure, the Head of Editorial Content will oversee local content across digital, print, video, audio and social, and be the market’s key liaison within Vogue’s global network, reporting to and acting as a key strategic partner to the Global Editorial Director. They will develop local and regional strategies to drive editorial excellence, audience growth, and revenue, contribute ideas for local, regional, and global editorial projects, and bring regional expertise to global projects.
The HEC is a senior and public-facing role, and the successful candidate will play a crucial part in representing the brand both within the company and externally to the industry. In addition, they will bring extensive experience across all platforms, including digital, print, video, and social media, as well as experience in building, inspiring and leading teams.
Responsibilities:
Establish Vogue Arabia’s presence and shape its creative and editorial direction.
Be the lead role in developing and refining Vogue Arabia’s editorial voice, growing and guiding the brand's success.
Work closely with Vogue global leadership to align and execute the global strategy locally.
Set and oversee Vogue Arabia’s digital editorial direction and strategy across site, social and video (aligned with overall global priorities) to grow audience and drive digital revenue.
Oversee the print edition, commissioning local content, adapting global content, and customizing the line-up. Oversee content production on all channels and platforms while maintaining the highest quality journalism.
Contribute story ideas, talent, and strategic insights to all global editorial projects, including content shared across print editions and the digital network.
Work closely with the Operations Manager to plan and manage editorial content budgets for print, and editorial content efficiencies for digital, video, and social.
Cultivate storytelling and internal talent to drive growth and engagement across all platforms.
Act as the key contact for Vogue Arabia’s editorial team within the local operation.
Have a strong commercial understanding, and work hand in hand with the commercial team to identify and collaborate on revenue-generating opportunities that align with Vogue’s style and values.
Act as the in-market brand ambassador, hosting events, providing creative direction and liaising with clients as required.
Desired Skills & Requirements:
A minimum of 10 years of experience leading teams in digital, social, video, and print media - ideally in a global company.
Strong understanding of the Middle East market’s fashion, lifestyle, and culture industry.
Extremely strong editorial skills and experience assigning and editing multi-platform content and working to strict deadlines.
Proven leader with the ability to empower, mentor, and inspire a nimble editorial team.
Creative and innovative thinker who will bring inventive new ideas to editorial development.
Robust network of contacts within the fashion and luxury industries as well as relationships with celebrities, chefs, artists, and other tastemakers.
Strong business acumen, networking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to guide a team toward achieving business goals.
An entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on new opportunities for stories and areas for audience growth.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively.
Written and spoken Arabic is a requirement.
